    Picture Noise?

Could someone please give me a hand understanding picture noise. First of all i know or at least think it is due to a highter ISO 1600 vs 200.

But when i see pictures posted and someone says that it has some noise i think i am unsure of what that really means. Does it mean that the colors are not as vivid as they could be or that the lines of objects blend into other objects or something completely different.

    Thanks!

It is when the picture starts looking grainy or pixelated. The higher the ISO the more the camera amplifies the picture. It will also show up more the larger the print. Remember that you have different people here with different levels of expectations so some members will be picky and expect more out of a picture than others might. What bothers some may not even be noticed by others. Think of your picture being printed on photo paper = ISO 100 then think of you picture being printed on rough sand paper = ISO 1600. Some cameras do a much better job with higher ISO settings than others do, Jeff
