    Vivitar 272 Thermister flash

I am brand new to posting - so please be patient. Also I have been out of photography for a long, long time.

My wife bought me a Canon Rebel xsi. I dug out an old vivitar 272 that my father left to me back in the 80s. I presume that these can be used as a set?

Also, I am unable to get the capacitor to charge. The manual says I can use the optional cable to charge the capacitor from an AC outlet. Of course I have no cable! Was this just a direct 110V AC cable? If so, I can make my own, yes? How long do I keep it plugged in?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Do not use that flash on your camera!! The Vivitar 272 has a triggering voltage of 240V!! It will fry your camera. If you must use it, get a Wein safe-sync.

Canuck935 is right! I think that most of the digital cameras are made for about 6 to 12 volts and the older flashes are in the 200 plus volt range, DO NOT TRY IT! Jeff
