umm...stupid question

I went to rewind a roll of film so I could reload it and accidentally rewound the film all the way to where is is completely in the casing. Is there a way to get the lead part of the film back out so that I can load it again?

In a completely dark room you can try and pop the end of the film canister off then pull out the lead end very carefully with some tweezers then snap the canister back together.

Would ya believed that worked? A little tricky in the dark, but it worked. Let's just hope no light leaked in. Thanks for the suggestion.

Glad you got it fixed Ray. That's the way I have done it in the past too. There is a special tool that they make for this too, that doesn't require a dark room, or dark bag. It's small and cheap, and would easily fit in a camera bag. Here's a link.

schrackman,,you used to be able to get these tongue thingies made of two very thin bendable metal plates that slide into the cassette so you can retract the film....Processing labs used them....Ask your friendly lab..

I have one of those around here somewhere but my success rate is about 1%... A decent camera shop will probably do it for you (they have for me!).
