    Suggestions on Tripod

Ok, I need suggestions on tripod heads. I am primarily a nature photographer (landscape, macro and wildlife) and I am looking for a tripod system. I am thinking a Bogen-Manfrotto system with 3021BPRO legs. The question is, what head should i get with it? I use a digital rebel and my biggest lens is currently a 300mm (someday I will have money and will go bigger, someday).

Does anyone have reccomendations on tripod heads? I was looking at the Bogen-Manfrotto 322RC2 Grip Action Ballhead. Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

If you are planing to take Panoramas, you can't easy use a ball head. But allot of the user here do like the ball heads.

With the equipment you have now the 3021B Pro and the 322RC2 should do you just fine. It is what I use with the addition of a Feisol panning base between the legs and the head. Makes panorama simple.

I am currently on the way to the 400mm f2.8 for wildlife and sports. It is an 11.5 pound lens. Not something the 3021 or the 322 would be capable of. Depending on what you get in the way of big glass you will probably want to look at something like these: Especially made for larger glass.

Wooden tripods are the best for dampening vibrations. That is why I chose Berlebach. Top quality. The Wimberley or another gimble mount is the only safe way I would want to mount a big lens to a tripod. Not cheap though.

Something even as simple as the 3025 is very sturdy. It's not the quickest to use and I have been using an Arca Swiss ball head for years now, but the 3025 does have the advantage of being able to adjust each of the three planes individually. I've used one with a 300 f4 in even the problem-causing 1/8 - 1/30 shutter speeds with absolutely no problems.
