straight lines jag when resizing

I know this was brought up before, but I can't seem to find the thread.

I took a photo of a large masted ship. When I went to resize it in photoshop, the rope lines became all jagged. Any input on how to avoid this would be greatly appreciated.

Were you looking at the image on the screen at 100% size? If not, sometimes curved lines look kind of funny.

Even at 100% the lines are jagged Steve. I'll see if I can post the shot in critique.

This isn't going to help you, but I was told that you need to view the photo at a certain percentage ratio to the original. I can't remember what the ratio is though.

If you view the image as "actual pixels" or "print size", do you still get jaggeds?

And how is the picture when you print it out?

The original actual pixels looks just fine. Print size, it looks all messed up. I haven't printed yet. I'm still learning how to do a lot of this stuff. How to print it the size I want etc.
