    Squeaky lens

I just bought a Sigma 150mm Macro lens, and when the AF is working, I sometimes hear a faint sqeaking sound. I haven't heard it before on any of my other lenses, the AF moves from min focusing distance to infinity. When I manually focus it, it is perfectly quiet and the ring roates smoothly. Should I have reason to worry about this being a potential problem, or am I just over-reacting? Thanks!

Sounds like it may need lubrication. Don't try it yourself though. Check with Sigma to see what it would cost to check it out.

I take it that only this lens has this problem - if that's the case, talk to Sigma about having it looked at.

this seems to be a problem that i've heard of occuring with a couple sigma lenses. Like the previous posters said though, check with Sigma. I hear their service isnt very good though. If you don't get a response from them, just check at your local dealer.

Well, I sent an email to them and got a reply in 2 hours! Either they're bored at work or really fast. They just told me to send it to them with a note describing the problem and they'd get it fixed with a turnaround time of 2-3 weeks.

Did they give you a cost? Oddly, sometimes Sigma will repair a lens and not charge even after the warranty expired from what I have heard.

    Re: Squeaky lens

They just told me to send it in and they'd fix it w/o mentioning a cost. I'll have to send it in the end of next week since I'll be needing it for work this week.
