    Sony vs Samsung

ok my fellow members i need HELP!
this summer i'm saving up for a digital camera and i have 2 in mind, so i need opinions.
i want this camera to LAST! i want to be able to take it everywhere! from track meets and softball games, to just at home taking picture with my friends.

ok..my first idea was a cute Sony DSC-W55/B Digital Camera.
i saw lots of good reviews for it, but i also saw that it was not very durable and fragile.

    any opinions on that?

and then my other idea was a cute Samsung S730 7.2-Megapixel Digital Camera
, it matches the color of my cell, and my friend had one just like it, but in silver and i loved it!

but i just wanted good picture quality, durable, and one's that's gonna last.
please reply or send me a message,

    thanks,
    katie

    Re: Sony vs Samsung

If you are saving this summer, why choose now? Something else will likely be out by then. The truth is, they deliver about the same thing. In other words, these cameras are in the same class, and will deliver (in your case) virtually the same results. That is, if I am getting the right info, you just want something for snapshots, right?

As for durability, just use common sense. If you don't throw it, drop it, or go swimming with it, everything should be ok. The biggest problem I find with compact cameras usually occur when younger people get them and turn them on while obstructing the lens extension, and break the mechanism that extends the lens. This isn't a reliability issue, it is an issue with the user.

In all honesty, you cannot tell what brand a camera is when the photos are printed (I print 1000's every day). Unless you need manual options, or something you omitted in your original post, the only decision left for you is a cosmetic one. If matching the color of your phone is important, by all means go that way. If you want a small well built camera with a solid feeling body, try Canon's Elph series.

Hope this helps some. If it doesn't, ask some more and give more details. Many here will be happy to help.
