Something Wrong with My Memory Card... Need Help!!!

So I have a Fuji F470 Digital Camera and I use an Olypmus XD- Picture Card M 1GB. I have never had problems until I paired the two with a Mac. I hooked it up to my Mac to download the pictures and when I was finished I deleted the photos through the finder not iPhoto. Now my camera flashed "Card Full" when I know it does not have any photos on it. How do I fix this? Is this fixable? And what caused this to happen so I can avoid it in the future? I am incomplete without my camera! Please Help!

The finder puts the photos in the trash. You have to empty the trash before you have space on the memory card. You can always format the card in the camera also.
