    In Seacrh Of

As a first time poster to the site I come in need of assistance. I am looking for a digital camera with the following specs: Shot Stabilizer; virtually noise free at 400; optical view finder, and a big LCD screen. An added plus is to have manual controls. And all that at a price point in the neighborhood of $400.00. I have compared several on the web and while many have close to what I need the breaker is the noise levels shown. Grainy pictures I do not want. After buring my pupils staring at reviews ad infinitum I decided to come to a forum where good advice is always offered. Appreciate any help provided.

    Thanks/bj1

I can't give you any specifics on what's out there now, but a couple of thoughts about noise. The best way to keep it at bay is proper exposure - underexposure will really increase the amount of noise, quickly. Also, there are a few noise reduction programs out there too. This will add a step to your workflow but can work wonders.

The answer to your question also depends on the use. Are you going to take photos of: sports, nature, landscapes, panoramas, or portraits? And also a great deal depends on the light levels you will do most of your photography in.

I selected your price and image stabilization at dpreview and it gives quite a selection.
