    SD Cards

So I need to get a new card, I was looking and saw the SDHS Cards. I was wondering what is the difference between the SD and the SDHS cards? Also could I get the SDHS card? I have Nikon Cool pix camera and a Cannon.

Also I went to reformat my computer last night didnt realize that my card reader was pluged in the computer with my SD card in it. Now when I go to use the card in eiter of my computers it comes back as Card Error. Is this card bad now? Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks
    Dan

    Don't you mean SDHC?

The SD card format is limited to 2GB and has no serious system to indicate the speed of the card. About two years ago the SD consortium introduced a new standard SDHC. Externally the cards are the same but there are major differences:

    - card format can be much greater than 2GB (I have 8GB and 16GB cards)
    - there is a standard way of measuring card speed (read, write, large files, small files..) and each card is guaranteed to reach it or better. My cards are class 6 which seems to be about the equivalent of 133x Compact Flash

The new standard is backward compatible - sort of. A device that can use SDHC can also use SD. However a device built for SD might be incompatible or need a firmware update. Check your suppliers web site before buying a SDHC card (camera and card reader)

For the card you formatted wrongly - try to format it in your camera.

Not buying any more gear this year. I hope

Reformat and select FAT16 for under 2gig in size, if you use the card reader. OR just format the card in the camera.
