Save a corrupted file?

It wasn't until I had transferred my pics, reformatted my memory card and shot some more that I realized a couple of my photos had been corrupted during the transfer. It's one of those instances where the bottom portion of a file looks like an off-colored screen has been laid overtop the image (or, if we we're talking commerical CMYK printing, it's like a couple of the plates were missing).

Since it's extremely unlikely I'll be able to recover the orignal file from my memory card, I'm hoping I can salvage this picture. It's not a stunner but it does look good in b/w. It would be a fairly important part of a set of b/w prints I plan to frame for around the house. Anyone have advice for how to repair this?

I would stop using that card and try to recover the photos RIGHT NOW.
Formatting does not remove the old images.

I have no idea on the repair of the images, part of the information for one of the colours is lost.
But if you have more than one card, put that important one aside right now and look at gettign the images off it. I use Image Reascue - web order and download, it's saved my butt once.

This is CORRECT. There are some other programs that can be used but you well have to find them on the WEB. You will be able to recover any photo which has not be over written.
