    red line?

In most of my photo's there is a red line that runs from top to bottom on the right hand side. Every now and again it's not there but for the most part it is there. I shoot an Olympus Evolt E500. I thought maybe it was my lens which is a Zuiko Digital 40-150mm f3.5-4.5. I switched to my Zuiko 17.5-45 f3.5-5.6 and it's still there. Over this past weekend I made the same switch and it wasn't there, but today it was. Any help?

    Repair shop

Typically a continuous coloured line going from top to bottom of the image means a broken connector somewhere, probably coming out of the sensor. (The problem is more common on the LCD screen of portable PC's where the connector is a flexible strip which cracks after a while).

Only solution is to send it in for repair and keep your fingers crossed

Is this common? This camera is only 4 months old. Any idea what could have caused this?

    Re: red line?

First time I've heard of it on a camera. It's nothing you could have done. Typically it's caused by a microsocopic crack in one of the components that opens or closes according to the temperature.

    Get it fixed under warranty

    Some example images might help.
I've seen vertical colour lines when the sun is in the picture on some cameras.
Normally only on cheap ones, I admit, not on good camera like Olympus.

    Re: red line?

Is the line one the camera display only or both in the JPG image file and the display? If its only on the display it's a simple clean and reassemble, if it shows up in the file it may need a new sensor, as a bonding has become intermittent. At four months it could be a very costly repair so if the warranty has not expired get it in for warranty repair ASAP!!!
