This is not hard to do, just time consuming. Using photo shop load the background, the work from back to front, but make a top layer with the prospective lines. You will have reset the DPI of each posed photo to fit the prospective. Just remember the order of the layers as it's the hole thing, The last layer if the person upfront. Also the background on each pose must be set to transparent. After you have the team members lined up delete or mute the top layer with the guide lines (prospective lines).

so i would need to take each picture of a player individually? then photo shop it all together? also how would i get the lighting exactly the same? how difficult would it be to take this picture in 1 shot? getting everyone set up and take the picture i know the lighting wont be the same but i'm willing to sacrifice that or attempt to photo shop the lighting later

    Thanks
    Mitch.

If you closely look the original is photo shopped. To me it looks like layes of background, left side, right side, one each layer for the three front persons. Most likely done in a studio setting so the lighting can be controlled.

Yes it is photo shopped and the photographer definitely used studio lighting but i have no studio or studio lighting to use but I'm just curious if the use of studio lighting a necessary step to make the photo look as good as the 1 above

Studio Lighting is not a must, but correct exposure is a must. The exposure in PhotoShop or another editing program can be corrected or matched.
