    Rebel XT Parameters

What are the best Parameter settings when using the Rebel XT? I usually shoot sports - some indoor but right now mostly outdoor. I am currently using the Parameter 1 settings with Adobe RGB color space, but the images and colors seem to come out very flat, forcing me to do a lot of Photoshop work on the photographs.

Has anyone found a series of parameter settings that seem to come out better than the defaults?

    Re: Rebel XT Parameters

I'm not a Canon user so I can't help you with particulars, but "Adobe RGB" may be giving you problems. Your entire workflow has to be Adobe RGB or what you get in print won't match what you think the file looks like. Photoshop has to be set this way, and the print driver does too. Is your monitor calibrated? That can make a difference as well.

If you're sending your files out for printing (not doing them yourself) then there's probably a 99% chance that they're being printed sRGB even if the rest of your workflow is Adobe RGB.

Adobe RGB isn't necessarily any better than sRGB, just different. It does have some advantages but unless you've got the whole process (capture to print) covered, you'll get better results with sRGB. That's all I ever use and I'm very happy with my results. I don't have a printer, and I give the lab (anything from a grocery store to a custom lab) a finished file ready for printing.
