    Quantary lens questions

What's the quality like on these pieces of equipment?

I'm considering purchasing a used lens off of www.bhphotovideo.com and wasn't sure whether or not they are worth the money.

    Can anyone assist?

    thanks!

    Re: Quantary lens questions

I have never used a Quantary lens, but I do have a Quantary 2x TC. Optically, it's not good, but at the time, the price was my main concern, as I knew nothing about photography.

Quantary is the house brand of Ritz Camera, and I think (not positive) their lenses are made by Sigma. If it's not Sigma, it's one of the other big names in 3rd party lenses. Without knowing what lens you're getting, it's hard to say what the quality is going to be. Be sure to check the review section of this site, to see if other people have posted reviews on the lens you're looking at.

    Re: Quantary lens questions

I don't know much about them, but Quantaray (like Promaster) brand-labels lenses. IOW, they buy lenses from another manufacturer like Sigma and put their name on it. They also have other accessories, and it's an easy way for a store to deal with one company for a lot of items. Or probably in the case of Ritz and Quantaray, to increase profits... I'll bet that you'll find some good products and some not-so-good ones with their names on them. Check the reviews section that Michael posted to see if this lens is listed.
