Question need help with copying to dvd, help!

I got tons and tons of pics on my hard drive, and in fact, I have one photo that a guy at work wants a print of,, simple enough,, right? so I go to copy this photo to a dvd or cd, and my system won't let me copy anything!! any tips on why it's doing this??? even pics I have already copied to cd, it won't do now,, I just finished a defrag, thinking that might help, but it didn't

a window pops up and says "windows has encountered a problem with copying this file, what do you want windows to do?"

Some questions to clarify. What format are the files in? What software are you using to copy the files? Can't promise anything, but maybe the more we know the better someone may be able to help you. HTH

Try copying the file to your desktop and moving it from there. If not, right click on the file, click "properties" and make sure the "read only" checkbox isn't checked. If this doesn't help, try using actual DVD burning software like Nero (use the trial if you don't want it) instead of windows explorer.

How much room is on your Hard drive? If you are close on running out of room there may not be enough room to make the temp files to move the files.

Could you post the error message here word for word?

Typically you "burn" a cd or dvd, not copy. Do a right click on your hdd, and file you want to burn, then click on properties to see how much free space is left on your hdd and the size of the file you want to burn. The hdd must have enought space for temp files that windows uses for various functions. Ensure your dvd is not full and is not read only. Try attatching it to an email and send it to yourself.

Make sure you CD/DVD burner is working also. If you have Picasa you can burn CD's from there too.
