    Re: probs with light

You're just not getting enough light into the camera for the shutter speed.
If you are in manual mode, then your aperture isn't open wide enough.
If you are in shutter priority (Tv) mode, then your lens doesn't open wide enough.

You can adjust the ISO setting on the camera to make it more sensitive, that will make the pictures brighter (for the same shutter setting) BUT you will get more noise as you use higher ISO (like comparing grain on a 100/800 film). TANSTAAFL *

    What lens have you got?
What kind of lighting situation is it?
    What wildlife?
    How fast is it moving?

Can you post an example here, so we can see what's up?

    Re: probs with light

    hi
i tried to upload a pic but there seams to be a prob with the site.
the wildlife is birds flying and foxes on the move plus dogs...
the lens i use is a nikkor af 70-300mm
the lighting is sunny behind me nice blue sky
the pic looks very grainy, i had the iso set at 1600 just to get more light if i have it below that its very dark.
should i have the sun infront or to the side of me?
very many thanks for your help.....

alboy, you might want to try shooting in Aperture Priority. The shutter speed will adjust to the aperture set by you. Lower f #'s will let more light in.

    Re: probs with light

    Alboy,
You should use manual mode (M) If it's sunny out you don't need 1600 ISO. That will give all kinds of noise. You should be OK with a shutter speed of 1000, ISO between 200-600 and f7-16 with that lens. Adjust as you need to with the f stop (aperature) and get the correct exposure with some test shots.
