    printer

Hey guys, i just had a couple questions about a few items. I'm seriously considering buying a printer this summer and i was wondering if you guys had any recomendations. I think I want a large format printer and i'm looking to spend around 2 grand. I was also curious as to if adobe photoshop is still the top software used for digitally rendered images. If not what is? thanks

    Re: printer

Photoshop CS2 is still the standard that most people are using.

Epson is still probably the one for large format printers, but that's quite an investment. You'll need to use the printer often to keep it running, and the cost of paper and ink will add up quickly. If you're sending images out for large prints often then it makes a lot of sense - but if you need a big print only occasionally, then you might be better off with a smaller printer and having a lab do the big ones.

The only large photographic printers that I know of are Epson. I have a Epson R2400 but I would of been happier with the 2200 (you don't have to change between mat or photo inks as the 2200 has spots for each cartridge). I do know the next size up is a 19" wide then you go to Ploter size, very large printers. I would not purchase an HP Plotter as they are not photo printers (at work we have an HP Designjet 450 it's 24" wide, and it's only 300 DPI).

If you stay with the 13 inch wide printers, at two grand you should have money for Photo Shop, Printer, extra ink and some paper.
