    Printable CD-R media...

Has anyone used any CD-R's that can be directly printed on? What software is used to design the content that is going to be in the label section?

I haven't. I know in the past there has been some concern for the "archivalness" of putting any label or writing on a CD, but not sure if this is still the case. Mostly, the concern was about writing with Sharpies on cd's (bad idea). I've seen the one on the HP commercial - looks pretty cool.

    Lightscribe DVD/CD Burner - a great idea!

We had a discussion about this on the viewfinder a couple weeks ago. Not sure if I posted the link right.

Anyway, I use the HP Lightscribe CD/DVD burner that burns on a label and Asylum Steve uses a printer that works with the right type of cd/dvd's.

I really like the light scribe since I am not burning multiple copies of something (usually)

    thanks,

Yeah, thanks Wes, for saving me the trouble of digging out that thread...

To answer your original question, masdog, I use photoshop to design my labels, then the Epson's custom label print software to actually position and print on the CD.

I also want to make it clear again that the printable CDroms are not only much more expensive than regular ones, but are not (and do not claim to be) archival.

I only use them when I need professional looking product to give to paying clients. For that reason the longterm lifespan of the discs is not important.

Here's an example of one of my labels...
