    Re: Posting Pictures

You can directly upload to the forums here, you don't need to upload to a different site and link, etc. Here are step-by-step instructions, but they were written in '04 and I think it might be slightly different now. In any case, it's pretty close. Let us know if this works!

For example, instead of Manage Attachments, look for Upload Photos but it's in the same spot.

    To use the direct method:

    - Use either the 'Quote' button or 'Go Advanced' under the 'Quick Reply'.
    - Then hit the 'Upload Photos" button.
    - Hit one of the 'Browse' buttons and find the file on your computer.
    - Hit the 'Upload' button.
    - After it uploads, hit the 'Close This Window'.

The file has to be smaller than 293 KB and the picture must be 800 pixels or less both high and wide. Also note that the 'Preview Post' will NOT show the picture.

    Re: Posting Pictures

Unfortunately the system built into the forum limits the size big-time and it compresses the images to the point where quality is visibly affected.

Another option is to make a flickr.com account (see sig)

You can then download their "Flickr Uploadr" program which allows you to upload a picture through the right click menu on your computer.

Once you have it set up, the posting process is quite simple:
Upload the image, Open the image page, click "all sizes", then click medium. You can then simply copy and paste the HTML code for this forum and others that have html enabled.

This is nice because it lets you post largish images easily and resizing is automatic, you can choose to share the settings the picture was taken at, or you can choose to hide those settings.

This site has a gallery for posting even larger pictures. Click "upload photos" on the right near the top to get started, then it's a matter of copying the image URL and putting it in [img] and [/img] tags to post a forum thread. This is nice as compared to flickr because we have a user gallery link under our name on the left, and it's free to post large images.
