Photographing rain.

Not sure if this belongs in this forum, but in a way I am asking for help.

Has anyone ever tried to photograph falling rain. I have been able to photograph most other weather stuff, clouds, falling snow, etc., but so far I can't figure out how to photograph falling rain and have it look like falling rain. I suppose I could catch it falling into a puddle, but that is not what I want. If anybody has been successful at this, maybe they would care to share their approach. :idea: Thanks.

Slow shutter speed, and relatively narrow DoF so wide open aperture.
Flash won't give you the blur on the raindrops, if that's what you're after.
But using second curtain flash (just before the shutter closes) would give lit up raindrops on the end of the streaks.

Paul, very nice. What you have shown looks exactly like what I am after. Have to give it a try. It is supposed to rain here off and on all week.

I've been wondering about it too. Got plenty of chances around here.
Seems simple enough until you start thinking about it .
