Photo Recovery from a CF card

I was freeing up some space in my card and I deleted a shot that I really liked by accident (my favourite from my last holiday )

I had two similar shots, one was really over exposed and the other was right on. In my hurry, I got rid of the good one. I haven't touched that CF card since.

Question is has anyone here succesfully got a photo back that they deleted via their Camera?

It pains me, every time I open up the folder, the photo numbers go from 777-779, 778 is what I want back. I'm depressed, help me. :cryin:

That's a very good thing! There are a lot of image recovery programs out there but the only one I've ever tried is the one that ships with Lexar CF cards. I played around with it and it worked, but (knock on wood) haven't needed it yet. Photo Rescue is one I hear a lot about so I'd probably try that one first. If that one doesn't work, maybe another program will find it. Fortunately these are (relatively) inexpensive programs.

Also, check the Sticky Thread at the top of this forum for other ideas.

Thanks a lot man. I hadn't noticed that sticky at top. I'm sticky blind. I've been using forums for so long, I don't even realize the stickies anymore.

I'll check out the Lexar program and try and find it. The reason why I was asking here to find out if people were actually succesful at recovering. I don't mind making a purchase as long as I know that it will get my pic back and won't destroy it further.

Thanks again, I'll go and read more of the sticky now.

    Leels,

I have used both the Lexar and Scandisk programs to recover accidently deleted photos. As long as you have not shot anything you should be OK. Deleting only removes the first letter/number of the file name, formatting or shooting however will normally mean you cannot recover the file(s)

This one comes installed on some Lexar cards when you buy them, but I don't know if it's available separately. But, if you need a card anyway... Just make sure to download Image Rescue from the card to your computer (probably only via card reader) before you put the card in your camera and format it!

As long as 1) you have not over written the file contents or the directory entry its recoverable with any windows undelete utility. 2) if you formated the card you need a special program like Stellar Phoenix Digital Media Recovery Photo Recovery Software, CardRecovery, Lexar Image Rescue 2 or 3 Software. I've had Lexar Image Rescue recover images from a formated card. 3) Over written files on flash cards are not recoverable period! When you format a flash card you overwrite the file directory. But subdirectories don't get over written along with all the files.

As others have said, as long as its not overwritten you'll be ok. I've tried quite a few (I'm forever zapping the wrong snaps cos of the small screens. The one I like the best (by a long way) is Pixfix because it doesn't just rely on file table entries. It's free too which is a big plus in my book! :-)

    Hi Friend,
You can recover your deleted photos very easily. I have also faced this kind of situation then I used Amrev photo Recovery software and it recovered my deleted files in some easy steps. You can also try this and I hope you will also get back your photos.

I was in such an unpleasant situation when I lost data on the memory card. In this case, I used Partition Recovery to recover the files. I hope this helps those who find themselves in a similar situation.
