nikon focussing screens type E??

Hi I was just wondering if any of the fine people on photographyreview.com can help me with this question.....

I have just got a type E focussing screen for my FM3A {it originally came with the k3 screen [split image rangefinder]} which is crisp and clear to look through.
I put the type E screen in {its the gridded screen} but I dont know whether its normal or not but the screen when looking through it looks extremely grainy...just wondering if anyone can tell me if this is normal??

Most of the groundglass type screens look kind of grainy - of course this has nothing to do with the results because the mirror flips up when you press the shutter release.

Thanks, I knew it wouldnt affect the image but I was just curious as to whether this was normal or not...seems strange looking through the viewfinder with such a high amount of grain..thanks again for the reply.
