    Nikkor manual lens

I have been using a Nikon F2 /W a Nikkor 35~200mm 1:3.5~4.5 for many years. I would like to step up to a DSLR and am wondering if I can utilizer my manual Nikkor lens on a modern Nikon.

    Re: Nikkor manual lens

Is it the same as this lens? http://cgi.ebay.com/NIKON-NIKKOR-35-...13014006r23970

Here is a Nikon compatibility chart http://www.nikonians.org/nikon/slr-lens.html

It should work but I'm not sure about the metering and since it is a manual focus lens, that should be fine if manual focus is what you want. Remember that the digital slr cameras do not have a split prism focusing screen.
Also, unless you get one of the fx digital cameras, your lens will virtually become a 52.5-350 zoom due to the crop factor of the sensors.
Welcome to the forums and digital but we also have many film shooters here so you may want to keep that F2

    Re: Nikkor manual lens

As long as it is not a Pre-AI, it can be used. Pre-AI can be used after a trip to a machine shop to convert the lens to a AI lens. Depending on the body the lens is mounted to you may not have through the lens metering. The link in "Frog's" post will tell you.

Note: if you purchase a full frame body the lens will stay Nikkor 35~200mm, but if you purchase a D40 the ASC size sensor the length will be equivalent to a 52.5-350 zoom (field of view, the factor is 1.5 x real focal length)
Note: use of the manual lens the focal length (all bodies), and f-stop (may be recorded with some bodies) will not be recorded in the JPG meta data.
