As stated, new guy here. new to photography in general. Names Matt. now for your opinion.
Sony Alpha DSLR-A200 - Looking to buy it. I am reading though that the amount of megapixels doesn't matter and I was wondering if this would be a good camera. That's all. thanks.

It's a good camera... although I think you will be happier with the build quality and colour rendition of a Nikon or a Pentax. Plus you will be buying into a more futureproof and more common lens system. If you ever go to a race and need to rent a supertelephoto lens you'll need a canon or nikon. It's a good camera but from an investment standpoint it's not a great investment.

I think the Sony will serve you well. I haven't used that particular Sony. But owners love their Sony DSLRs and I was impressed with the A100 when I reviewed it.

You may want to look through and maybe post on the Digital SLR and/or Sony forums. And if you haven't already, you should take a look at our digital SLR review section.
