Question New here with question on camera shake

I have a Kodak Z740 and have bought a monopod as I like to be mobile with the camera. However I shake something awful from the transplant meds I take. I'm also 5 foot 11 inches tall and most tripods I've seen in store are far shorter. How can I stop camera shake? What would be a good tripod that portable and tall enough that doesn't cost more that $100 or so, and when I upgrade to a different camera, which ones have really good image stabilzation for people who shake a lot?

Light, stable, easy to work with and inexpensive don't really go together. Tripods come in all shapes and sizes (as well as prices), but you should do pretty well for $100. A Bogen/Manfrotto 3001 leg set with a 3025 head is a pretty favorite setup but slightly more than that. I know there's another brand that I'm not familiar with that a few members here have been happy with - I'm sure they'll reply too.

Try using the self timer when the camera is on a tripod, that can help a lot. Set it as short as two seconds if you can. This will be enough time to stop any movement to the camera from pressing the shutter release, and with a short time like that you won't have to wait any longer than needed.

Try the Velbon Luxi range. I have one and used it for night photography with a Canon Powershot Pro1 and I'm very pleased with it. Its light and portable and I can use it and I'm 6'. Hopefully going to try it with my 5D this weekend to see how it copes with the 5D and 100-400mm lense weight.

I've got that Bogen/Manfrotto setup. It works great.

Also using a self timer as well will help with the shake. I'm also 5 11 and I need to bend down a little bit while looking through the viewfinder, but it doesnt bother me at all.

I also have a A Bogen/Manfrotto 3001 leg set with a 3025 head. It's a little more than $100. But it will even hold a view camera. I'm also 6' 1" and yes I also have to bend over to look through the view finder. You can always purchase a very light tripod and a cable release and not use the self timer, but then some cameras don't have cable releases for them anymore.
