New Camera

I am an amateur photographer. I do photography in my spare time and am finally getting my first quality camera. I have a small budget and I wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations.

I guess we'll need some more info to be able to help. First off, what is it about your current camera that makes you want to replace it - what does it do or not do that's not working for you? What do you want this new camera to do? Maybe you need some manual controls or ability to change lenses, etc.

Film or digital - I'd guess film is maybe the way to go if the budget is limited (before we get in the whole digital vs. film thing, they both have their pros and cons). Do you hope to add a digital camera body at some point?

Budget - how much do you have to work with and what equipment do you hope to get for that amount? Of course, you'll probably want to leave a few bucks for film and processing!
