How, exactly, depends on what program you are using...

Open the photo in a software program, such as Corel Paint Shop Pro 9, for example. Then find the "Properties" section, and slowly scroll down the list of shooting data. You'll be amazed at all the stuff which is recorded!!!

DigiKam photo-library software even allows the user to view whether the image-stabilizer was activated, and in what mode, burst feature on/off, self-timer, metering mode, and the list goes on. Yes, focus mode too. (CAF, single AF, MF, etc.). I am looking at the list right now.

Most programs will have some sort of EXIF viewer, but the amount of data available depends on a few factors. (Camera brand/model, software program used, etc.).

I am using Photoshop 7.0 and I can see a lot of info under properties but don't see type of focus used. Can anyone tell me how? Jeff

What that is written to the EXIF data is dependent on the maker of the camera and the program you use to view the data. I looked at the full EXIF listing from one of my Nikon D70 JPGs, and it does tell me the a speed light was used, and if the Auto Focus was on and more.

I have a Nikon D80 and I am using Photoshop 7 but do not see the method of focus. I can see everything else I want but that, Jeff

take a picture, in each of your focusing modes ( how would it tell alot of times since most lenses have af with mf override?) and look at the exif data specifically for any differences (just remember which order you focused in)

I know with my Canon software that came with the camera all the EXIF info shows up in that program.
I don't know Nikon stuff at all. The software that came with the camera should give you all that info.
Try loading the software that came with your camera?
