It looks like a basic shot to me, I don't see any use of photo shop. Looks as if the photographer used natural lighting to set it up.

If you look closely at the catch lights in her eyes, he used an on-camera flash as a fill for the sunlight coming from camera right.

That means it was done very well!

I think there was a fair amount of work done; fill flash as mentioned but maybe something like gaussian blur in selected areas, saturation to the green, etc. If it's not obvious, then IMO it's a compliment to the photographer (or whoever did the post processing).

One thing - please don't post a shot by someone else without their permission. It's a copyright violation and also a matter of respect to the photographer's property. It's better to post a link to a shot in a case like this.

A effective focal length (35mm film) of around 75mm is used for portraits, and a low f stop so the back ground is out of focus. On DSLRs with a crop factor of 1.4 to 1.6 the old standard 50 mm lens works great when shot wide open, but I don't like the focus screens in most digital cameras as there all just plane ground GLASS no micro prisms or other focusing aids.

I agree. Looks like a basically good shot with fill from the get go, and then a bit of Gaussian blur and saturation added here and there. As stated, a link to the image is the way to present this rather than posting someone else's work.

    Welcome to the Forum.

I agree with AV and Gary. It looks like a little blur was added to specific areas of an image that started out very good to begin with.

As far as copyright goes, did your sister get usage rights to the images for that 800 euor? If so, they you are fine. I'm guessing she bought the prints/album, not the rights to the photos. If that's the case, the photographer still owns the rights to the images and you would need their permission to publish the images.

Of course Romanian laws may be very different than US laws on this subject.

True. If this was here in the US, you would not have avoided a copyright issue by simply paying for the shot and being in posession of a print. Here in the US, the purchase of a print means that you only technically own the paper that the image is printed on, not the image itself. This puts the photographer in control, which we (as photographers) like. Just a matter of understanding.

Starting with a technically good photograph is always going to make the end result better and easier to obtain. Good exposure, focus, depth of field, use of fill flash, etc. All of that is well done here.

I'm not so sure about the gaussian blur. Looks more like a "diffuse glow" to me. Could be wrong though.

They're definitely some post processing blur here, and perhaps some softening in the face area. Nice shot of your sister overall. I think you can be happy.
