    Minolta MD equipment

    Looking for advice:
I bought my first Minolta X-700 when I was about 15, and it has been great over the years. We currently have two now with motor drives, and (authentic) MD lenses (16, 20, 28-85, 35-135 and 70-210). I am concerned about being able to get film for our camera and get it processed in the next few years, and wondering if I should just get what I can for all of this on eBay, and go out an buy a digital SLR. (From what I have read here, buying a conversion mount for a digital SLR for my manual lenses is a non-starter...).
    Thanks for your advice.

If you want to get a digital camera, by all means do so, but the fact of the matter is, even if the market for 35mm film was 1/10th of what it is now, you will still not have any problem getting film and processing in a major city like Toronto. You might only have 3 or 4 choices within a couple of miles of where you live, instead of the probably 30-50 places nearby now, but there will certainly be 35mm film and processing available.

Note the Sony DSLR uses your Minolta lenses... But I don't see at this time film going away any time soon within the next decade.

The Sony DSLR will not use the SR-mount (MD, MC) lenses from your camera without an adapter and then, only as manual focus. The adapter acts as a small extension tube and, therefore, needs a lens to allow it to focus at longer distances. The glass used for these adapters is not real good and most find it unacceptable. You can use them for macros or close-ups using an adapter without glass. - TF
