Question Minimum RAM for PSE editing?

I use PS Elements 2 for my photo editing and have 768 MB of RAM. But it seems like I'm constantly getting 'not enough RAM' messages when I am trying to work on something, especially if I am working on collage or composite type photos.

So I was wondering how RAM some of y'all have for your photo editing?

    Thanks for any feedback.

768 MB is plenty. You might want to see how big your paging file/swap file is set for. I run on 3 GB myself (was 4 but I found that my computer actually ran slower on 4 GB than on 3, dunno why.).

Is that the thing you set from System Properties -> Advanced -> Performance -> Virtual Memory?

If so, mine is currently set at 2147 MB. I'm guessing this must be too low? Should it be changed to 3000 MB? And what would be a good number for a top end range? (It seems to have a low end [2147] and top end [2547])

Yup, thats it, and probably the problem your having. I have over 3GB on mine and now with the MKII N in raw or large jpg I have problems on occasion.
I found I need to close out things I don't need running on the task bar as well as unneeded processes and that clears things up to run smoother. When I open a raw file in Elements it is 48mb, and you need three to four times that amount of space to edit with according to Adobe.

Not sure if you're already doing this, but close out of all other programs if you're doing a big project in PS. I have 512 and it's not as fast as it could be, but not slow enough that I really feel the need to upgrade to a gig - at least at this point. I'm running CS which is probably larger too, but it depends on the file size that you're working with.
