    Question Maxxum 300si question

Hey all, just wondering something about my camera - love this thing and it takes GREAT pictures and all, but is there a way for me to change the shutter speed on this thing? My only gripe about the camera is that I can't "play" as much as I like. Thanks for the help!

    Re: Maxxum 300si question

The 300si doesn't allow for those changes. However, there are things you can do, and some of the how-to's utilizing p&s cameras will give some ideas.

For example, if you want a fast shutter speed, try using the sport mode, and if you want a slow speed, try using a night mode (if it is an option). Sometimes a fireworks option is available, it usually gives a longer (not very long) shutter speed. If you shoot in daylight though, the camera may lock the shutter button until you recompose/change the mode. If you are attempting longer exposure in good light, you would need a deep ND filter. If you want faster shutter speeds, your options are only faster lenses/film.

Regardless, you are still limited in "tricking" this camera. If you want to set options yourself, you would have to get a different model. If you already have lenses you like, there are several options. Let me know what you want to do specifically, and I may be able to help, or point you in the direction of a body for a reasonable price.
