    On-line lens rental stores

    Hi-
New to the forum & I'm not sure if this is the right forum for my question. I just bought my first digital SLR (Canon xTi) with the kit lens(18-55mm) and upgraded to the 70-300mm IS USM (all I could afford). I would love to try out the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS USM to shoot my kids sports (ice hockey, wrestling, and gymnastics). Maybe if my husband sees a huge difference I could get it as part of next years Mother's Day/Birthday/Christmas present. I heard you could rent lenses and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of on-line sites. Thanks.

There is one online rental place in Connecticut:

    http://tryandbuylens.com/

They have a good choice of Canon/Nikon lenses. I live in Connecticut, so I was able to pick up the lens. For non-local customers they ship orders using USPS Priority/Express.
    Good Luck!

I would recommend lensreantals.com. I have rented from them on two different occasion and haven't had any problems. They ship FedEx and the package needs a signature when it arrives. Also they are fast to answer emails even after hours.

I used www.LensGiant.com several times now. Their prices are good, they have always delivered on time, and their lenses are in great condition. I've been very happy with them.

I've used Borrow Lenses once or twice & have had no issues. Plus they're local to me so I can pick up the gear from a local camera shop.

I also used LensGiant.com a few times. I've had a good experience each time. My order arrived exactly on the date I requested. The lenses were practically new and come in their own cases packaged in a box with thick foam. Return shipping was easy with prepaid labels.

    Re: On-line lens rental stores

    I tried renting from https://www.tryandbuylens.com/
The interface is straight forward, I selected a canon 10-22 for my upcoming trip to the grand canyon, went through the checkout process. Got the confirmation number.
Next day, I get an email:

Please be informed that order 1157 had been cancelled due to failure to meet our verification and security requirements. No further consideration will be taken.

UNBELIEVEABLE!!! I called up the company and they said they can't "verify" me and will not rent to me until their site classifies me as a low-risk client. This means if you have
a free email address, they can't verify your address, can't verify your phone number, and a bunch of other things, they will not do business with you. Fine. I don't want to do business with them either.

The guys at rentglass.com are much nicer to deal with, don't have these stupid things and are ready to help, oh yeah, with cheaper overall prices!
