Lens set up for DIGITAL cameras

    Hi..
Just got a Nikon D70 and I'm planing to use it with the lens I had from my film camera (a manual 50mm 1.4, 105mm 2.5, 24-50mm AF, 28-85mm AF and 75-300mm AF Nikon lenses) and my question is if Digital cameras can handle the constantly changing of lens as film SLR cameras or is better to use just fewer lenses.
If you have a SLR Digital camera what's your lens set up or input about my concern.
    Thanks.
    cheers

Well the problem with digital cameras SLR types is, the sensor can get dust on it. Some times you even can have a foreign object get in the camera/lens like horse hair. The manual lense is a good lens but the D70 focusing screen doesn't lend itself for manual focusing, and I hope you have a good light meter.

Bottom line I changes lenses in a protected area.

By similar remarks about dust in digital SLR sensors, why is the dust-inside special to digital cameras? I would think that also on film dust could get in the camera an cause noise, but I'm just guessing on this.

Because if it was film, the dust would just settle on the film and advance out of the way when the fil moves. Digital it stays put through all your shots.

Deleted duplicate. Is anyone else having problems lately after hitting the submit button?

Sensors are also electronically charged, so they can attract and hold dust. I suppose film could get a static charge on it too - but if there's dust on one frame it's gone on the next. You can change lenses as often as you want, but like it was mentioned the only problem is dust. Turn off the camera before changing lenses too - AF lenses have contacts that will short as you twist the lens. I have never heard of someone having a problem with this, but I think turning the camera off is a good practice.

Forgot one thing - you were looking for input and your widest lens is a 24mm. That's not very wide on a DSLR, so you might end up adding a wider lens. I have the Sigma 10-20 and love it. OTOH, the 18-70 could replace the 24-50 and get almost as wide as the 24 on a film SLR.

    Yeah..
I was thinking on the old Nikon 18-35mm which I can use it with film camera as well..those new Nikon ED lens won't work with film cameras (black corners). So far I'm having the most fun shooting with the manual lens I have. I may buy another Nikkor manual lens (20 or 24mm) before the wider one...

    Thanks again.

If you got the 18-70 DX with your D70 (excellent idea) then check out your collection of film lenses at 200% magnification compared with the 18-70 DX. If you still want to use your film lenses then fine. I tried this with the D70 then the D200 and at 10Mpix I stopped using all my film lenses except the very top quality ones (f2.8 constant zooms).

Then I got dust on the sensor of the D200 (twice) from changing lenses on windy days and right now I do most things on the 18-200 DX VR and I never have to change lenses anyway.
