LENS - Macro Nikkor 28-105mm F/3.5-4.5 - Increase magnifcation?

Is there anything I can do to increase the magnification factor of my 28-105mm macro lens that doesn't include forking over substantial cash for another macro lens?

That lens has pretty good macro capabilities by itself, and it's sharp (well, maybe not as sharp as a dedicated macro lens but it's pretty good considering price and it's an all-purpose lens).

You could add a close-up lens (diopter, whatever you want to call it) that screws onto the front of the lens. Nikon's own are pretty good, and like anything that goes in front of the lens it's best to buy a good quality one. Another option is an extension tube, which mounts between the lens and camera body - this way you can focus even closer. Either is less than $100.

I vote extension tube, does not affect sharpness like a diopter and is the same price wise.
