    Question LCD screen protector?

I just got a Canon A540, my first digicam.

It has a nice big 2.5" LCD screen [albeit low resolution]. I'll be traveling quite a bit with it, and have an inquisitive 2-yr old son, so I'm concerned about damaging the screen from bumps and scratches.

Is it a good idea to stick one of those clear vinyl[?] screen protectors over the LCD to help prevent scratches? Or will this only mess up the image quality on the LCD?

For digicams, its an excellent idea regardless of children. I use normal PocketPC protectors that I cut to size. Believe me, these exposed LCDs, even cell phones, get scratched up quickly.

I never use one, and my cameras are used hard, never broken one or even scratched it, even banging on walls at race tracks

    Re: LCD screen protector?

Where is an easy place to get a screen protector for a Canon? Staples or OfficeMax maybe? And if it is not made for a camera but could be cut to fit, what would I be looking for?

Too many close calls banging the camera back against concrete pools while shooting skateboarding...haha. Unfortunately, I find the lack of LCD protection to be Canon's biggest flaw. Thanks for the help! Always appreciated.

if u go to Best Buy, they have screen protectors. they sell them for Ipods and stuff. that's what i use for my Canon 30D. they only come in one size but then you can cut them down to fit your screen.
