LCD Posterization

I switched to an LCD monitor back in September, and I have recently begun to notice some posterization in my images, mainly those of people. I Checked the same images out on the LCD of my 40D and on my older CRT monitor and the effect is not present on them. It shows up only in shaded areas where there should be fine a shadow gradient.

Is there some way to correct for this, or am I stuck with it?

The monitor is a Dell IN9010N.

I just came to the realization that the posterization only seems occur in Photoshop.

Sounds like a software problem. Check your settings.

Check to make sure the LCD is set to it's native resolution and that you're viewing the image at 100% using quality software. Other than that, not sure what's going on.

The only thing I can think of is that your Colorspace may be wrong in photoshop.

It's ironic, my display just started doing this within in last couple days. Some graphics look fine, others they are just off a bit.

I'm going to try updating my video drivers and see how that goes.

Update- I just did a reset on my LCD and things are back to normal..A power cycle didn't do the trick, but there was a reset option with the on-screen-display menu. Did that, and poof, posterization gone.

May want to check that out.

Could also be that the firmware didn't load correctly or that some surge caused it to get wonky. But you know a simple reset fixes the issue. That's good news.
