    Kodak P880 manual focusing problem

Anybody hear of a problem using the manual focusing with the new P880. My camera's manual focusing would work intermitently, I send it back to Kodak but I haven't received it yet. Since a lot of novice photographers won't use this feature I am curious if I was unlucky and got a bad one or if there is a more serious flaw with the camera.

Re: Kodak P880 manual focusing problem

I have a Nikon Coolpix 5000 and it has manual focus on it too. The only time I use it is if I need to for less shutter lag time because the biggest part of this is the focus time (at least with this camera).

IMO, the only time it can really be used is at distances over a few/several feet where you have enough DOF that it doesn't need to be perfectly accurate. For example, at the wide end of this camera's zoom range I'm at about 7mm. Put in an aperture of about f4 and you have tons of depth of field. If I set it for 6' then I'm covered for a long range (not sure exact distances).

Thanks for the info. The problem I have is the manual focusing not working in the manual focusing mode "defective camera". I was just curious if other people have tried the feature and found it not to work. This is a new model and many people won't put the camera in this mode right away, they may find out too late that it doesn't work.
