    Infrared Photography

Does anyone recommend converting a DSLR for infrared or just use a filter

Id reccomend getting a point and shoot, then having the IR filter removed from the sensor, then it would be a dedicated IR camera.

I use both my Canon 5D and the Pro 1 without conversion with just the IR filter on the lens.

Seems to work but needs a long time to capture the photo.

    Re: Infrared Photography

I really want to have my backup DSLR converted for IR photography. The results I have seen all look very good. The problem I have is that I really can't justify the cost of doing it. I do have a DRebel that I have been keeping as a backup to my 40D, but it hasn't seen much use in the last year. I think it would be the perfect camera to convert to IR, but I don't know if the price is worth it... I may just say screw it and send my DRebel off to LifePixel anyway...

Another option is to convert your photos to an IR look with post processing. There are some good tutorials online that show you how to get nice results.
