I swear I am not a complete idiot

I have a Konica Minolta A2 that I got from the photographer of my wedding. It came all together and was barely used, well I have had no real need to mess with it. I just got a new lens today and I swear I am not stupid but I cannot get the lens off. There is no instructions and I do not know how to get it off. I have instructions on how to get my new one on and off but it says to use the lens release button but I am not sure where that is. I swear, I really am not this stupid. I feel like a complete idiot for having to ask this. I just got this camera a couple months ago. Any help?

By saying you just got a new lens for it, which lens are you talking about. From reading the specs of the camera to me it looks like it is a single fixed lens camera, not a fully removable lens. On saying that, the specs do mention new

    Optional Converter Lenses
New accessories, the 1.5x Tele Converter and the 0.8x Wide Converter, provide an optical zoom range of 22.4 to 300mm. The camera’s Anti-Shake function covers all focal lengths to ensure ease of use.

Which to me implies either they attach to the current lens, or maybe you screw something off of the current lens to attach to it.

Apart from that, I couldn't see anything in the minolta website to help any further than that.

    Link to specs. http://kmpi.konicaminolta.us/eprise/...etail=Features

Re: I swear I am not a complete idiot

Thanks for answering, well from what I have gathered from other forums is that it is not an interchangeable lens. But here is the lens that I bought, which I was told was compatible with the A2.........

Would you know if their is an adapter for it?

Not compatible with your camera. As I said I looked at the specs and to me it read as a fixed lens camera, with a couple of adapter type lenses avaialble that would attach to the existing lens in some way. I think you need to return the lens and get a refund ASAP before you get stuck with a lens you can't use. The product you linked to is for an SLR camera which the A2 I believe isn't from reading the specs on it.

Thanks, I found that out too. I am really not stupid, this is just the first camera I have ever really owned(other then cheap little ones) I am calling them tomorrow to see if I can get a exchange for one that actually says it will work for my camera. I feel like a total idiot. Thanks for all of your help.

sorry to hear about the problems that you are running into, I like yourself is new to this and I read as much as I can from this site to help me out. I looked on the site that you had the link too and seen these two converter lenses, http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=3965020, http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=3965019. One is a wide angle and the othe is a tele, for the same price as the one that you have. Maybe you can get an even trade for eith of these. Hope that this helps you on your way.

Yes, it did. I just didn't read well enough. I have actually found someone who wants to buy the lens I bought. So I will be getting the "right" lens soon. Thanks for all of your help and support.
