How do i Post a picture in a thread?

Im new to the site, how do I go about posting a picture ive taken and would like everyones opinion of?

scroll down to upload photos

click it

a window will open to browse your computer.
some link pics from flikr or other sites but I don't know how to do that.

make sure your pics are sized to 640 on longest side.

AND make sure the file size is less than 212K The pixel size and file size are listed in the window that is opened.

yep, first prepare your image so that it is 640 pixels or less on it's longest side and has a file size of 212kb or less. That means using enough jpeg compression setting to reduce its size to below 212kb.
Save your image in a folder where you will easily find it.
go to critique forum and click "New Thead" near the top. Type in 10 characters or more in the text box and then scroll down some and you will see a button that says "upload photos" click that and a browser window will appear. Search through your computer for the image you wanted to upload and double click on it. Then click "upload" and then close the browser window.
then you can click, "Submit"

Now another question for everyone...how do i change the size of a file?

Most any image editing software will do it - Photoshop, Paint Shop, etc. There's also a free one called Irfanview (for PC only, not Mac) that will do it pretty easily. Change the long side to 600 or 640 pixels and the other side will work out to somewhere between 400 and 480 pixels, depending...

Usually software comes with the camera - if you let us know what you have someone here should know how it works.

you can also use the windows power toy resizer http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

if you're running xp. I think its the 11th one on right. After download right click pic and you'll have a resize image option. Click that and a window will pop up that gives 640pxls on long side as the auto resize. It leaves your original and gives you a smaller image too.
