    how do i -

hello, everyone. i've not been on for a long time. hope everyone is doing ok.
    questions-
1- when one has saved a private message in a folder and wants to bring the text into the "text window" to send to help files, how is that done?
2- in private messages, when one enters a recipients name and hits "submit message", and message received is "marked", but i never get a message received confirmed, what has happened there? where did it go? how does one then ever reach the recipient?
    3- thank you -

thanks, for the nice welcome back! i always thought there was something special about you. after reading your occupation and biography, i see why. you're a "care" giver. and how this world needs care givers. i want to commend you.
my r n wife worked as a pysc nurse 20 years at state hospitals in western ill. her first love in nursing are the mentally retarded. she regards them as some of the most "loveable" people she knows. i've learned alot from her. she has more inate "savy" than anyone i've ever met.
you asked about what i had been doing. after i got what basic help i needed from this forum on computers, film scanners and ps. i started scanning [and burning to cd] the "pick" out of about 28,000 slides taken over the last 50 years. this assortment largely consisted of family, people in my small rural communityand agriculure operations. after 2 1/2 years i have just completed my scanning [4,000 slides]. nearly 1,000 of this number i've had printed and given to family members outside our home, as well as neighbors, and picture of children who now are adults. the remainder i plan to have shutterfly make 4x6 prints, which i'll place in my personal album. had i realized in the beginning the time required, i may not have undertaken it. inspite of that, it has been an interesting and emotional journey. so that has been the reason for my absence, liz.
it's mean't alot to me the way various one have given of themselves to me on this forum. photo-john has put together a very helpful and wonderful site. had it not been for the answers i got on this site, i never could have accomplished what i now am just finishing.
i'm a senior citizen and from my childhood to present i've been like a "cat with nine lives" as far as health issues are concerned. each time God gets me up and going again.
God bless you liz, in your vocation. you "care givers" are so appreciated by we recipients. i want to encourage you in your effort to continue to help others. you will be prayed for.

    respectfully,
    tramp

Cool Thank you Tramp...and be patient.....

    Tramp,
Thank you for your kind words. Also, it's good hearing all that you've accomplished. WOW! You certainly kept your nose to the grindstone! You have quite a bit of perseverence, and I'm sure it was worth every minute - and you have treasures for a lifetime.

Patience - it's the weekend, and it's always a bit slower on the forums. So, let's keep the thread going until someone who knows the answer to your questions replies (not me)

    Hi Tramp

I don't understand your first question. "To send to help files" is what has me confused. Maybe you could give us more information. So we can help.

But for the second, some users will read a private message and not hit the confirm button when they receive it. Otherwise if you are not receiving a messsage that the pm has been read, and you have requested a receipt, the person has not read it yet.
Have you received replies from the person you have sent to?

If you would like to test the feature, please feel free to send me a quick private message and request a read receipt. I'll acknowledge that I have received it.

To view confirmed and uncomfirmed receipts.....
Click on "private messages" In the folder controls box at the top of the screen, the very last line tells you how many confirmed messages you have. It will look something like this
You have 3 confirmed and 1 unconfirmed private message receipts.
If you click on the underlined message in your folder, you will be brought to a screen that will show you who has confirmed and who has not.

Hope this helps. If it's confusing please let me know.
    Lara

I saw his first post and didn't really understnad what he was wanting and not to confuse things more I left it alone. I think he wants the confimation that someone has recieved his PM, but that can be stopped by the person sending a PM anyway, you just cancel the request for a receipt. I personally, never use it, so didn't want to give out disinformation. It was also a bit hard reading in all lower caps as well, but that is no excuse and I don't profess it to be. I think Lara has it under control by the look of things.

I did post something about the board resetting posts to all read, so it has been hard to see what I have and havn't read, as everything was reset to all read. Very annoying and I know we are all having to deal with that.

Lets see how things go with this thread.
