    Re: Holiday

Have you priced memory cards lately? The prices seem to be falling all the time. If you don't have a way to download and backup (so you have two copies, at least) every day then you might seriously want to consider another 2gb card. A spare battery might be a good thing too.

However, I really don't want to talk anyone into buying something they can't afford - personally I wouldn't want to go into debt over a hobby. Do the best with what you have and enjoy the trip!

    Re: Holiday

If you can't afford it you can't but a 2gb card shouldn't be more than 30 or 40 bucks and are often on sale. Lexar and Sandisk are the most popular but other brands,(Kingston comes to mind), seem to work fine too.
Walmart frequently has them on sale.
On my D80 I can get 165 shots in raw format and I guess double that in jpeg.
If you do shoot jpeg, make sure you set your camera at largest file. Never know when you'll get that once in a lifetime shot that you want to make into a poster size print.
    Most of all, have fun.
    Keep Shooting!
