    BMW - looks like you already got some good info in the other section, but just to echo what Sebastian said, a lot of lenses have different quality at different f stops. Good lens reviews examine a lens' sharpness at all full f stops. For an ex of what I mean, see the chart in linked page below. Good luck figuring it out.
