when you click "new thread" and scroll down past the text input box you should see an option that allows you to upload images.

1st make sure the dimension of your photo is 640 x 640.
Then you have to upload the pic to PhotoReview,
I hope this makes sense, follow my pics below

    Click on "Upload Photos"
Click "Browse" to find the photo on your pc
    click "upload"
make sure you see it pop up (blue arrow)
Hit "Submit Reply" & it should be there
    Good Luck

thanks to Brent and Hollis, you should be able to upload in no time. One slight correction to hollis's lesson is that the image does not have to be 640x640 but rather 640 on it's longest side. So in other words it could be 640x480 or 640 x 200 etc.

Please note beside the pixel size there is a file size limit also, it must be less that 212K about I thing. If its to big just reopen it and resave, in Photoshop or Elememts a lower quality example was saved at quality 10 resave at quality 9 or lower or in other programs resave at a high compression setting.

With the 640 limitation why do some people's photos show up bigger?

Because they don't upload as an attachment, but link to a bigger photo hosted somewhere.

The editing program I use is Photoshop Lightroom. How can I reopen/resave photographs to make the 212 K size limitation using that particular software? I would like to start posting pictures, but all are over the file size limit.

Hi Ptax, let me try and get you up and running Follow these steps:

    1. Highlight the desired photo
    2. Click the File pull down menu at the top left.
    3. Click "Export..."
    4. In the pop up dialog box, scroll down to image settings.
    5. Check "resize to fit" check box
    6. Enter 640 for maximum width and height
    7. Scroll up to File settings. Select JPEG and change the Quality slide bar to 80.

Now this is usually compressed enough to meet the posting requirements. Sometimes, depending on the picture, you will need to compress a little more. If the file is still too big, try moving the slider down a little more, say to 70.

    Hope this helps

It's a pay it forward type of thing I came here not knowing crap and the wonderful members here taught me more than they will ever know. Now that I've learned a bit (still have LOTS more learning to do though ) I try to help others out when I can. This seems to be the case for a lot of members here. Hopefully you will find a new home here at PR. Then when you get a little more proficient, help keep the chain going by helping others

Happy shooting and I look forward to seeing some pics
