Help deciding on camera bag.

I cant decide on what bag I want to get. So i figured I'd let the experts on this website help me figure it out. The equipment im going to have is as follows. Sony A380 18-55MM , 50 mm F1.7, 70 -210 F4.5-5.6, and tripod. Pretty basic but i plan on expanding. I do a lot of hiking so I need something that does pretty good with hiking and holds the tripod vertical not horizontal. I have a selection of 4 bags that i like. Let me know which ones you guys like more.

Of the four, I like the Lowepro. One big compartment for the things reached most. Lay it flat on a log, or the ground, one set of zippers and you get what you need. Mine is similar, I load it depending on my plans, it won't hold everything.

Yea Ive been researching and Ive narrowed it down to the Lowepro and the Wolverine. I really like how the Wolverine looks

Hi kobrein4,
I'm not a fan of backpack camera bags.
If you plan to go hiking and use a camera bag as a backpack how will you carry your other things like water, rain gear, first aid kit, lunch, etc?
Also if the camera is in your backpack it will be hard to get to for those quick shots that always come up when hiking.

Thanks to Bob in Denver for posting the URL (I can never figure those things out, which is why I do photography and not computer stuff LOL)

I've been looking for another bag myself...I like that lowepro's ability to carry a tripod. You may want to give the slingshot series a look too.

Im really not a huge fan of sling bags. I like to have 2 shoulder straps instead of just 1.

I just bought this bag from Tamrac and I'm happy with it. It's very roomy and seems like it will protect my equipment very good. It has good padding on the shoulder straps also, for those long hikes! lol

I think choosing a camera bag is a harder decision that choosing a new camera. So many options. I don't have any experience with any of the bags you mentioned so I don't have any first hand knowledge to pass on about them.

I currently have 6 camera bags. Four of my six bags are Lowepro. The quality of these bags is top notch. They are built to take a pounding and hold up to lots of rugged use. They fit comfortably and can hold a ton of gear. I would even be OK with it if they used a little less padding in their bags.

I do like the one large open space of the Wolvorine bag. If you can fit all of your camera gear in the bottom of the bag, you would have a nice spot left over for other things you may want to take hiking with you. A nice feature.

I don't know anything about that brand so I don't know how it would stack up to the quality of the Lowepro. According to the page you linked to, the Wolverine weighs 6 pounds! The Lowepro is less than 3. The Wolverine also has room for a 17" laptop. Are you going to take your computer hiking with you?

Of these 2 bags, I would go with the Lowepro if it were me. I do like the looks and features of the Wolverine but I don't need the space for a laptop for hiking. I like the size and weight, not to mention the price of the Lowepro. I also know that Lowepro is a name I can trust.

Any advice on a carrying case (non-backpack style) for a D300s with a couple of lenses? I'm looking for something waterproof and web searching is brutal for this specific product.
