Auto Cropping- How can I stop it?

I have uploaded this photo onto numerous photo printing sites and they have all come back with a cropped version that either cuts their legs off or their heads. The original file is a 1563 X 2344 jpeg 1.5mb. Is there anything I can do to get this photo to where it will print the entire photo in an 8x10? The 4x6 I didn't have any problems with. I do have Irfanview to make any adjustments to the size of the photo, but I was wondering if anyone could help me and tell me why I cannot print the entire image in an 8x10. Thank you in advance!

The aspect ratio of the image is wrong for an 8x10 print.

The image is 3 pixels high for every 2 pixels in width. That's called a 3/2 aspects ratio. If you were to print this as a 4x6, it would print with no cropping- 4x6, reduced to it's lowest common denominator is also a 3/2 aspect ratio.

You could print the image as an 8x12, and there would be no cropping. Then you could simply trim 2 inches of the print. However, you're going to find that that still means you lose a portion of the feet (I checked).

You could also add 312 pixels to the width of the image. Assuming you centered the image, you would have about a half inch of white on either side of your 8x10. If you're really good, you could extend the background across those extra pixels, and make everything look natural.

That said, if you would like, I'd like to take a crack at this image, to give you what you want. However, I would ask that you send me the original (large size) image, as it would give the best result. My e-mail address is tandemduo280@comcast.net, if you're interested.

What you have to do is add borders to the sides to make it the same ratio as an 8x10 so they don't have to cut off part to make it fit. I did this quickly to your posted image with ThumbsPlus - most editing software will do it. Hope you don't mind my posting your image. - TF

Actually, what I had in mind was something more like this:

(The same hope/apology about reposting the image). While it is obvious that the edges have been mirrored, a little cloning and healing would make that a LOT less obvious.

Old Clicker - Thank you, but I'm not sure about the black around the image. Thank you for trying!

Joe - no, i don't mind at all! Thank you so much! I actually went to the original picture and went into photoshop and just did the 8x10 crop. I wasn't aware of this prior to looking today!

Thank you all for your help!

I'm sorry but you will have to crop if you order any size other than 4 by 6 or 8 by 12! For you to keep control of your image you will have to use some version of an editing tool like Photoshop, Elemets, Paint Pro, or Gimp just a few of what is out there.

That used to bug the bajeebees out of me when I carefully composed a shot and then got an 8x10 back with cropped features.
8x12 will give you the whole shot and if there is something you don't want it can be covered with matting or trimming. I'll never order an 8x10 again.

A 5x7 has almost the same aspect ratio as the 4x6 and you could easily make one of this photo with just a simple crop if you didn't have to have an 8x10, Jeff
