Glasses on or off?

I have officially joined the ranks of the optically challenged and pick up my first set of glasses on saturday. I am wondering how this will affect my shooting. I suffer from astigmatism so don't have the option of using the diopter and although my astigmatism is very mild my natural shooting eye is the weaker of the two. I also won't be required to wear my glasses all the time, but those of you who do wear them, do you shoot with them on or off and how does this effect your ability to judge focus?

I don't wear them for shooting, because it puts my eye too far from the viewfinder to see all the image.

I hate wearing glasses with an SLR, but I'm nearsighted so I need something. Contacts can be a pain to deal with, but they're a big improvement (but I can't sit in front of a computer for hours with them). I have a slight astigmatism and recently switched to contacts that correct that (they are available, just so you know).

I take my glasses off to shoot but as long as I have an AF button it really doesn't seem to be much of a problem. Do they make an eyepiece for your camera that will correct this? Jeff

I do both. I can't see things up close and have very slight astigmatism. It's nice to be able to see my camera when I'm changing the settings. As for looking thru the viewfinder with my glasses on, it doesn't bother me in the least.

I am one step away from a seeing eye dog I wear contacts (since 8th grade) and I adjust the thing on my camera (I'm totally blank here) for my vision and that makes all the difference. I wear readers with my contacts for editing at times. I can't shoot with glasses on at all

I leave mine on all the time. Makes it much easier to go from looking at whatever I'm shooting to the viewfinder. I do find I have to sort of "look around" the viewfinder to see the edges, but only in cases where exact framing is required.

Mine are down on my nose when I shoot because I need them to view the LCD. But I never look through the viewfinder with them. The adjustable diopter on the viewfinder is a God send.

I wear contacts, when I had glasses I never wore them and that was with manual focus. I shoot with my left eye and my right eye has astigmatism. I am right handed for all most all things,, so I don't know why I have all ways shot with the left eye?

I never thought of shooting without my glasses because I wear them all day long. Just tried and the dioptric adjusts so that I could.

I might give a no glasses a try soon.

Skyman, I leave them on all the time. One thing I did discover - I have two sets of glasses, one of which is dark-coloured and polarized and I use when it is sunny - I have to replace them with my regular glasses when I am shooting because the polarization hides some of the details in the viewfinder.
