    FCB-IX45C computer connection issue

I have failed to get the FCB-IX45C sony camera to connect with the computer through a rs-232 cable. I strongly believe the problem is pin assignment related. Could someone please tell me the correct positioning?

Also, with a KEYSPAN serial usb adapter, the TX loop and Int. LoopBack tests have passed.
    The Ext. LoopBack test failed.

    Re: FCB-IX45C computer connection issue

You need the pin outs for both items: Both pin outs should be in the user manuals. The complexity of the cable depends on the hand sake lines that are needed to have the data safely transmitted.

Both the unites have to be set to the same speed. Tx needs to connected to Rx. A working serial cable has a minimum of three connections: pin 2 to pin 2 tx to rx, pin 3 to 3 rx to tx and ground pin 5 to pin 5 this is sub d nine pin male/female cable and there are other variations pin 2-3, and 3-2 same gender ends. But it can be any gender combination and pining. You have the hand sake connections and it you throw in the old standard sub-d 25 pin connector with multiple RS232 ports it's next to impossible to be correct the first time.

You Know the serial connection is for control not video or image transfer, that is what Firewire or USB are used for.
