    Digital Photo Frames

Is it possible to insert a colored frame around a digital photo using Photoshop Elements 3, or is this a function that can only be performed by separate software? I need to keep photos at 8 X 12 in competition at my camera club (photo plus mat). I want to insert a digital frame around my photos to be more competitive, but retain the 8 X 12 size. Can this be done with Elements, or do I have to purchase XYZ Digital Frames? Please advise.

easy way to do it with elements. Change the background color to what you want as your frame. go to resize canvas. click relative. resize about 1 inch to both length and height. And voila. there you have it. I like doing a small resize with white, then large with black. Nice black border with a white line seperating it and the image.

Brent is right, you can do this pretty easily with Elements. Once you figure out how you want it to look, create and action to run all the steps and you will be able to add your frame with a single click.

As and aside, I run a script that was written by another member of this forum that adds a frame around my photos, but I don't think it will work with Elements. You can look in my gallery for examples of what the frames I use look like. I keep mine pretty simple with a black frame, and white matte. Even though the script I use won't work on your version of PS, you can easily recreate the same style of frame in an action.
